1st LAPGHAN FOR 2013

As I mentioned earlier I was going to choose the 2 colors for this lapghan, I chose Lavender and Soft White.  So far all the lapghans have had Soft White in them.  I have completed the first two squares, and here they are.........

Well the pictures finally posted!!!  It takes a long time for the pics to load from blogger.  Not sure why all of a sudden there is an issue. Hopefully it gets resolved soon.  I wish the picture above was better, but it was taken at night.  The colors are really pretty together.

FEATURED PATTERN FOR THE WEEK!

In our yahoo group we have 8 pattern links posted at the beginning of the month for the group to work on.  Each pattern is worth a point to go towards a drawing for a lapghan.  Well We started another new project that will be offered up to 2x a month, this is done for one week, and a prize package is offered up to those who post a picture of their completed project.  So far 3 of our members have completed the project.  here is mine, (ineligible for prize LOL)

hmm once again blogger is not loading pictures!!!  ugh!

Anyway here is a link to our featured project.

APRIL WAS FOOD THEMED

In our yahoo group, we have weekly projects we work on, this also gets everyone a chance to have their name entered into a drawing for the lapghan drawing.  I have given away 2 of them in 2011.  For some reason, 2012 was a bad year for me, so I was not able to do them.  I want to do this every year, so making sure to get it done this year.

This was our FIRST lapghan given away in 2011, I used Soft White and Delft Blue.  12-12" squares, this was titled, "Dragonfly Days" and all squares were my own design.  Drawing was held on July 1st, 2011 The winner of this lapghan was Shawn Yeatman.

Anyway, our weekly projects for this year are primarily based on a theme for the month, sometimes season, sometimes holiday, and sometimes, just anything!  April has been all about food!!!  I will post pics soon of those, and announce the colors for the FIRST 2013 Lapghan

HOMEMADE YARN HOLDERS

One of the things I enjoy so much about being in a crochet group, is the wonderfully creative members.  They are always willing to help out, and share the ideas that they have come up with over time.  One of those creative members is, Donna, she is not only there to help anyone who has any questions about the group when I or Ivory are not available right away, but she is super intuitive with all kinds of knowledge.   She sent an email to the group about needing yarn holders around the house, and with her permission, I am posting it here.

Ok so, I needed something to put my yarn in as I am using it and keep tangle free, so came up with my own yarn holders.
First one , is a small oval shape trash bin, and three bread bag fasteners, and duck tape. not the neatest job with the duck tape, but it works. Just make sure the bread plastic closer's are taped on a downward angle. First tape on the edge of trash bin then go back with small stripes of duck tape and tape the closer's on the inside of bin at a angle. You know you got it right when the tab doesn't move and still have a angle, makes it easer to thread the yarn as you just put it threw the bread tab. Work good for me.

Second Holder:

Second one was recycling a Christmas snack tin. The tin had a hard plastic center on the lid, so I just put three holes spaced out in the lid and took duck tape and cut two small circles and taped them on top of hole and on the under side of the lid over the holes and re-opened the holes, then put my yarn in the tin and thread the yarn threw the hole. I work's good for me to.
Hope this will help some of you to get creative and invent your own yarn holders.
Best of all it they were free as everything was at hand.
